Water efficiency awards 2009
Summary
Now in their sixth year, the Water efficiency awards are the leading scheme in England and Wales for recognising the efforts of organisations to conserve water. This year there will be three categories, which are open to any organisation. Each category will be presented with a Gold, Silver and Bronze Award.
Shout - Save - Solve
The Awards aim to increase awareness and share good practice of water efficiency among all businesses and organisations including those in the leisure and tourism and retail sectors.
If you have completed a project that addresses water usage and matches one of the three categories outlined below, we would like to hear from you.
Water Shout Award -
This category seeks to reward water conscious projects with an emphasis on communicating and educating a target audience to raise awareness, leading to a positive change in attitudes towards water usage.
Judges will be looking for a well planned and structured campaign, together with evidence of how much attitudes or behaviours of the target audience have changed as a result of the project.

Water Save Award -
recognising practical measures that save water and money
This category seeks to reward water conscious projects where measurable environmental and financial savings have been achieved either by changing daily use of water on your premises, or through a manufacturing process.
Judges will be looking for evidence such as meter readings - of the amount of water used both before and after the implementation of the project, together with clear information on the process used and how the project was communicated and delivered within the organisation.

acknowledging smart solutions for sustainable water use
Rewarding projects or academic research relating to water efficiency where creative solutions have been identified to overcome barriers to achieving sustainable solutions; and have contributed to increasing knowledge and improving understanding.
Judges will be looking for evidence of how the project or research was conceived and implemented and not necessarily the amount of water saved.
Please note that we cannot accept entries relating to water saving technology, unless it is an integral part of a water saving project.
