Strategic waste management information 2002-3

Summary

These web pages give an overview of of information we have brought together on different types of waste and how they are managed. They cover an estimated 235 million tonnes of wastes from households, business, farming and construction. The pie chart shows the proportions of the different waste types.

The information on these pages provides consistent, comprehensive information on the amounts and types of wastes produced and the methods used to manage it in England, Wales and English regions. The information is for the financial year 2002-3 or calendar year 2003, the latest year for which all these data sets are available.

The information should help: local authorities and regional planning bodies to plan for waste; government in reviewing Waste Strategy 2000; the waste management industry in investments and should be of interest to the public.
