Blast Furnace Slag

Summary

Working with WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme), we have reviewed the legal classification of steel making by-product 'Blast Furnace Slag' from waste to by-product, with clarification from the EU, and through consultation with industry. This will give the construction industry easier access to more than three million tonnes of the material produced annually.

This protocol will only apply in England and Wales. For more information on the Waste Protocols Project, please contact 08708 506 506 (Mon-Fri 8-6).
