River Thames
We manage the freshwater (non-tidal) River Thames, which extends for 217km (135 miles) from the town bridge at Cricklade to the boundary obelisk just downstream of Teddington lock. In addition, the navigation extends up the River Kennet from its junction with the Thames to a point 65m (70 yards) downstream of the High Bridge at Reading.
The Environment Agency owns 44 locks and weir sites on the Thames and one lock on the River Kennet. Approximately 25,000 craft are registered on the the capital's waters each year.
