We play an important role in the management of the coasts of England and Wales. Our Marine Strategy underpins everything we do in the coastal and marine environment.
Our responsibilities include:

Implementing key European Legislation to safeguard the marine environment (i.e. the Water Framework Directive)

Monitoring the state of our coastal waters

We are one of the major navigation authorities in charge of inland rivers, estuaries and harbours in England and Wales.
