This is the second of three consultations that will help update the river basin management plans in 2015.
River basin district consultations
You can respond to the consultation at a local level by selecting the river basin district consultation that is relevant to you.
River basin district: Challenge and choices and strategic environmental assessments
This consultation takes place between 22 June and 22 December 2013.
For each river basin district we are consulting on the Challenges and choices consultation and a scoping document for the strategic environmental assessment work.
England’s waters: Challenges and choices (national)
This consultation closed on 22 September 2013. Summary statistics will be available from 22 October and a response document will be published in March 2014, analysing the responses received and detailing which will happen as a result of your feedback.
Challenges and choices briefing pack
The briefing pack supports the challenges and choices consultation (both national and river basin district).
Public dialogue on water management issues
We have designed a series of workshops to find out what the public value about the water environment and the issues that impact on its health.
Updated risk assessments
The Environment Agency has reviewed the risk assessments used in the current river basin management plans and is updating them where new or updated evidence or approaches to assessment are available. The risk assessments will be finalised by December 2013. Feedback on the work-in-progress is invited during the Challenges and Choices consultations.
Consultations in Wales and Scotland
There are three river basin districts that are partially or wholly in Wales or Scotland. The Environment Agency is the competent authority for the Severn and Northumbrian river basin districts. Natural Resources Wales are the competent authority for the Dee and west Wales.
The Solway Tweed River basin district is managed by the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA). You can view the consultation, which launches on 22 December.
