In 2013 the Environment Agency, working with lead local flood authorities (LLFAs), produced the updated flood map for surface water.

This document explains why and how the updated flood map for surface water was produced. It describes in detail:

  • the method used to produce the maps
  • what is included in the resulting maps
  • a summary of the strengths and limitations of the maps
