Wildlife

Salmon are back in the Mersey and otters are in our rivers again - we're working with partners protecting and creating habitats to preserve the Region's diverse wildlife.

The North West is a Region of great contrasts. Although we are highly developed and industrialised, the Region contains a variety of wildlife interest. 

Our lakes and rivers are important for the fish and other species they support.   Our coastline is recognised internationally for its importance for birds.  Some of our wildlife is found nowhere else in the UK.
