Flooding at Glasdir estate in Ruthin

Environment Agency Wales (EAW) was asked by the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, to investigate the causes of the flooding in Ruthin on 27 November.

Specifically, Environment Agency Wales was asked to assess both:

  • the causes of flooding
  • why the defences 'failed'

This investigation was led by a senior manager from the Environment Agency, Dave Wardle. The flooding in Ruthin took place at the Glasdir estate and we are not aware of any other property flooding in the area.
