Our hydrometric stations collect data on river levels and flows, rainfall and groundwater. This data helps us manage water resources for people and wildlife, and provide flood warnings.
Groundwater update - 12 November 2013
We produce groundwater updates when water levels in our area are high and again when the situation changes.
Groundwater levels are still above average for the time of year across the Solent and South Downs area, and are exceptionally high in the north of Hampshire. Levels in the eastern part of the area are notably high but generally falling. Even in areas where groundwater levels are falling flood alerts remain in place while they still present a risk of property flooding. We will update this briefing note on 1 March 2013.
These graphs compare current data with the average and with the previous maximum and minimum values, using the latest information gathered from our telemetry equipment based at remote stations.
These graphs give an overview of recent trends in water levels but have not been subject to quality control. If you need quality controlled data from our sites, please contact the Hydrometry and Telemetry teams in Kent & South London Area on 03708 506506, or by email.
