DataShare is our data download and live feed portal. It helps us share our data by providing direct access to datasets for members of the public, partner organisations and our staff and contractors.
Making environmental information available is key to informing decisions, influencing actions and delivering sustained environmental improvements. We also have legal obligations to respond to requests for information and services such as DataShare help us do so more efficiently and cost effectively.
DataShare is available to members of the public and a wide range of other users. These include commercial licensees, our staff and contractors, central and local government departments, rivers trusts, internal drainage boards, utilities and Water Framework Directive co-deliverers.
It is also available to Natural England Contractors and Natural England Partners. These are administered directly by Natural England.
To register for DataShare, from the home page click 'Register' and then select the appropriate user type. After clicking 'Submit' your registration details will be checked and if everything is satisfactory you will receive a confirmation email providing access to the service using your unique, secure log in details (username and password).
You can choose the data coverage your require, for example by Local Authority boundary. Datasets are available in a range of formats. If you have access to GIS software you can choose from a selection of suitable formats.
