What’s happened so far?
The Wingmoor Farm waste sites have been in operation since 1989. There are eight sites in total, which the Environment Agency regulates. These are:
Operated by Grundon Waste Management:
- Wingmoor Farm West (hazardous waste landfill)
- Wingmoor Quarry (non-hazardous waste landfill)
- Wingmoor Farm waste treatment plant
- A materials recycling facility and clinical waste storage
Operated by Cory Environmental (Gloucestershire) Ltd:
- Wingmoor Farm non-hazardous landfill
- A waste facility that operates as a composting facility
Operated by May Gurney on behalf of the local authority:
- The Household Recycling Centre adjacent to the Cory landfill
Operated by Printwaste Recycling:
- A storage facility of cardboard and paper from kerbside collections
We have met regularly with Wingmoor Liaison Forum to discuss operation and regulation of the sites, local concerns and to facilitate communications. This group is chaired by a local county councillor and attended by the waste operators, parish council, members of Gloucestershire Friends of the Earth, local residents’ group (SWARD) and Health Protection Agency.
What’s the latest news?
In partnership with the Wingmoor Liaison Forum we have produced briefings on dust monitoring, an overview of the sites' operations and landfill gas collection. These are available below, together with further documents which may be of interest.
