Fishing for fun during National Fishing Week 19-27th July 2008
Whether you are young or old, a total beginner, an improver or someone returning to the sport, National Fishing Week gives you the chance to learn how to fish from the Countries’ top coaches. And it’s free – you don’t need any tackle and we even waive the need for a rod licence at these particular events.
- Scouting for Anglers
How the Scouts Angler Badge is a great way of getting youngsters to learn how to fish.
- Take a Friend Fishing
Why not get a friend or family member into fishing. We give you some tips on how to plan that all important first trip.
- Buy your rod licence online
Anglers (aged 12 years or over) fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England (except the River Tweed), Wales or the Border Esk and its tributaries in Scotland, must have an Environment Agency rod licence.
- Spotlight on the Lamprey
There has been a serious decline in lamprey numbers in Europe over the last century. Get an insight into the fascinating lives of these fish and watch some unusual underwater behaviour.
- Where to fish - find locations in your area
Search for a fishery using your postcode or town name. You can still download or buy our local fisheries guides too. These tell you where your local fisheries are, what type of fish they contain and more.
