Your licence, your money

Find out how we spend your licence money to protect and improve fisheries.

How we spend your money

Anglers spend around £25 million each year on rod licences – that’s around £18 per angler per year. So, where does your money go? We are producing a set of annual reports to show how we spent this money in England in 2011/12 to protect and improve fish stocks and the fisheries they support. So far, we have produced reports for our Anglian, Yorkshire & Northeast and South East regions for 2011/12.   The remaining regional reports, together with a national overview will follow.

Our national annual report for 2009/10 is also available.

We have teamed up with TV channel onlinefishing.tv to bring you a programme about how we spend your licence money.

The show takes you to our fisheries laboratory at Brampton and to the Calverton fish farm. It also takes you out and about on rivers around the country with our teams, visiting a barbel refuge and flood refuge scheme, and an electrofishing operation. You can also witness a day in the life of our enforcement officers.
