De-silting and vegetation removal work on the Rivers Tone and Parrett underway.
We are carrying out de-silting work at five ‘pinch point’ locations on the Rivers Tone and Parrett, to improve flows. We are exploring longer term solutions for a larger scale project.
The de-silting, being carried out by the Environment Agency’s workforce, began in October 2013.
We are also working with the Somerset Consortium of Drainage Boards and our contractors to explore how best to remove silt from the other pinch points locations. This work will help inform any larger scale project.
The Royal Bath and West Society has launched an appeal to raise money, in addition to government funds already identified, to meet the funding shortfall for the larger scale dredging project.
