EDF Energy’s and Centrica's joint venture company, NNB Generation Company Limited (NNB GenCo) applied to us for an environmental permit relating to discharges of waste water generated from site preparation and construction activities at their Hinkley Point site. Our consultation on this application ended on 8 November 2011. Responses can be viewed on the public register at our Bridgwater office. We granted a permit to NNB Generation Company Limited on 29 February 2012.
As part of the planning process for the proposed new nuclear power station, we submitted our views on NNB Generation Company Ltd’s application for a Development Consent Order to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC). The document, which identifies our key issues for the IPC to consider, is available on the IPC’s website.
We requested more information from NNB GenCo to help us determine their permit applications. We do this by issuing legal notices;

Our initial consultations on these applications ended on 15 December 2011. Responses can be viewed on the public registers including our Bridgwater office. In mid-2012 we’ll have an additional consultation, when we’ll provide consultation documents setting out our views, and ask for your comments on our draft decisions.

Background
Hinkley Point’s first nuclear power station, Hinkley Point A, operated from 1965 to 2000 and is being decommissioned.
Hinkley Point B uses twin advanced gas-cooled (AGR) reactors to continue to generate electricity. It is due to stop generating in 2016.
Hinkley Point was nominated by EDF Energy as a potential site for a new nuclear power station. EDF Energy’s new nuclear build company, NNB GenCo, is proposing a twin reactor nuclear power station.
