The National Packaging Waste Database (NPWD) is a web-based database. It is supported by:

  • Environment Agency
  • Defra
  • Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)
  • Northern Ireland Environment and Heritage Service (NIEHS)
  • Advisory Committee on Packaging
  • companies obligated by the packaging regulations, reprocessors, exporters and compliance schemes

What is its purpose? 

NPWD provides:

  • on-line registration for producers registering directly with an agency
  • on-line registration for compliance schemes
  • on-line submission of quarterly returns by reprocessors and exporters
  • public registers and reports
  • Electronic Packaging Waste Recovery Notes (ePRNs)
  • Electronic Packaging Waste Export Recovery Notes' (ePERNs)
