Who needs to report to the Pollution Inventory, when and how.
You will need to report to the Pollution Inventory if:
- you've received an EPR Regulation 60 notice
- you've received a Direction from the Secretary of State to report discharges from sewage treatment works
- you hold a radioactive waste disposal authorisation and dispose of radionuclides above the Schedule 2 limits in the Radioactive Substances Act 1993
- you run a mine or quarry with an operational area over 25ha (if it's under 25ha please confirm this via email and we will update our records):
You need to report every year, by the 28 February for the previous year.

It's best if you fill in your Pollution Inventory return using our web-based reporting system. This system can check the information you provide for mistakes, automatically fill in standard fields and allows you to look at information you have given in previous years. If you can't do this please use the Adobe Acrobat forms. You can print these and use as a standard paper form or fill it in on your computer and save it along with your data.
Pollution Inventory online reporting
The Pollution Inventory reporting system opens for reporting of 2012 data on 1 January 2013.
The deadline for submitting your Pollution Inventory (PI) and Resource Efficiency Physical Index (REPI) data is 28 February.
Please note: The PI reporting system opens in a pop-up window so please make sure that your pop-up blocker is switched off.
