Updates to Reported Information

Notification of reporting - April 2012

The Environment Agency is one of 124 participants who have notified reporting errors in their annual and/or footprint reports since the closure of the 2010/11 reporting window. Following an annual data verification exercise, after the submission of the Environment Agency's Footprint & Annual reports, we have identified that our Footprint and Annual reports over reported electricity consumed by more than 5%. All these participants have been requested to submit corrected data and provide an explanation. The corrected data will be used to update Registry records before the 2011/12 performance/achievement tables are produced later this year, after the reporting deadline 31 July 2012.

The Performance League Table (PLT)

The Performance League Table (PLT) is compiled from data reported by participants in the CRC scheme. Organisations had four months up to 29 July 2011 to report and were also given the opportunity to review and amend their submission up to 27 September when the data was locked down to prepare this PLT.

Since then a small number of organisations have notified us of amendments which, had they been reported before 27 September, may have changed the organisations' positions in the PLT. This PLT has been independently validated by AEA Technology and is fixed based on the 27 September reported data.

Veolia Environnement UK Ltd

Veolia Environnement UK Ltd is able to claim Energy Generating Credits, as a result of which its net emissions as defined under the CRC are negative. The CRC scheme design did not envisage there would be zero or negative emitters when calculating the Early Action Metric (EAM) score.

This means that Veolia Environnement UK Ltd's early actions are not properly reflected in the Performance League Table. Where the net result is zero or negative emissions, the CRC Registry cannot calculate a score for the EAM based on the amount of emissions covered by a carbon management certification scheme regardless of actions undertaken by Veolia Environnement UK Ltd.
