Transfer your permit

An environmental permit is location specific (unless it is for a mobile plant). This means that if you sell your house or premises you can’t take your permit with you and continue the permitted activity at your new location. You will need to transfer your permit to the new owners.

You can transfer all or part of your permit to another person. Below are the application forms and the guidance notes you will need to do this.

Please note: You will need Adobe Version 7 or later to be able to use the electronic forms. Alternatively, you can print the form and complete it by hand.

Applicants must fill in Part A and D1 or D2, and for installations, waste, and mining waste operations both parties must also sign the declaration in Part F1.

If you are having difficulty filling in your application then the information on the following page may help you:

Part A

The proposed new applicant must fill in part A - About you.

Part D

If you want to transfer all or part of your standalone water discharges permit (formerly called a discharge consent) or groundwater permit (formerly called a groundwater authorisation) to another person, you must fill in Part D1 to notify us of the transfer:

If you want to transfer all or part of your existing permit (installations, waste and mining waste operations only) to another person, you must get the person who will take on the permit to fill in Part A, Part D2 and Part F1:

Part F

Only installations, waste and mining waste operations need to complete part F. Both parties complete the declaration in Part F1:
