Streamlining permitting and planning - Penfold Review

The Penfold Review of non-planning development consents aims to promote growth through sustainable development by making it simpler and quicker for developers to obtain planning and permitting approvals from regulators.

We are working closely with Government, other regulators and developers to achieve this, such as:

• Determining permit applications within 13 weeks
  
  We will aim to decide on most permitting applications within a maximum of 13 weeks – or quicker wherever possible
  
• Guidelines for developments requiring planning permission and an environmental permit
  
  These guidelines were published in October 2012
  
• New Environmental Account Manager roles
  
  Defra are consulting industry on these roles to provide a single point of contact across certain regulators for developers facing complex applications
