‘Letter of Approval’ charges

In April 2011 the UK Government introduced charges for the Letters of Approval. The charges are made under section 41 and 41A of the Environment Act 1995.

You will need to submit the following charge with your application:

* In line with a policy to support equitable distribution of finance from the carbon market, we will issue Letters of Approval for projects in least developed countries free of charge. The list of applicable countries can be found at the bottom of this page, and is taken from schedule 1 of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Amendment) and National Emissions Inventory Regulations 2005.

How to pay

You may pay by credit or debit card, or BACS/CHAPS.

Debit or credit card payments can be made over the phone or by email:

• Call us on 03708 506 506 and ask for the "Clean Development Mechanism project" or the "Joint Implementation project".
• Or email CDM or JI giving the project name as a reference.

No debit or credit card transaction fees are charged.

• CDM projects - Use reference “ETS/CDM/APP” followed by your company name (if space is available).
• JI projects - Use reference  “ETS/JI/APP” followed by your company name (if space is available).
