Agriculture

Agriculture provides wildlife habitats, a well-loved landscape and a place for recreation – but it also has some less desirable impacts on the environment.

We regulate farming through regimes such as Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ) compliance, water abstraction licences, discharge consents and farm waste regulations. Further information including ppc guidance is available according to your farming sector:

Do you farm in a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ)?
If you farm in an NVZ and want to check which fields fall under the Action Programme Zones the NVZ interactive maps can help you to identify them. Search is available under post code, farm name, or place name.

What's happening in the environment around your farm?
Land managers are concerned with the soil they work and water flowing through their farm. Find out what's happening in the environment around your farm in our 'What's in your backyard?' pages:

How to contact us if you need further assistance
Please call our National Customer Contact Centre on 08708 506 506 who will deal with your enquiry or put you in touch with your local Environment Agency office.
