My Environment puts all the information you need about natural environment in one place.
What is My Environment
My Environment is a new website to help explore, understand, enjoy, and protect the natural environment in England. My Environment makes this easier by putting all the information you need in one place.
How does My Environment Work
My Environment asks you to share your most trusted and useful sources of online information about the natural environment along the following themes:
- appreciating my environment – Learn about what the environment has to offer
- visiting my environment – Find places where you can enjoy nature
- understanding my environment – Learn about the variety of wildlife habitats and species
- helping my environment - Get involved with the natural world.
You can search by theme, or you can explore the map using the search box to navigate to a specific location to find your local online sources of environmental information, photos or data.
Why was My Environment created
My Environment brings a wide range of sources of information about the natural environmental together in one place. It will enable you to see how the UK is responding to environmental challenges, find out about your local environment and how you can benefit from connecting with nature.
My Environment is part of this Government’s aim in The Natural Environment White Paper to connect people with nature through better access to on-line environmental information. My Environment has been created in partnership between Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency.
My Environment’s App competition
Can you develop a mobile app that helps connect people with nature? If so, you could win a £5,000 prize! The app should be innovative, available to as many people as possible, and offer new or improved ways for people to explore, understand, enjoy or protect the natural environment in England. Last date for submission of entries: 17 March 2013.
