Our role as an environmental regulator is to work with people and businesses and help them do the right thing for people and the environment. Where there’s a threat to the environment we can also use our enforcement powers. As an operator we work with communities, business and many others to manage flood and coastal erosion risks. We also work with communities to manage water resources including surface water, groundwater, reservoirs and the sea.
It’s also our job to be an independent adviser to local and central government. We often work with and provide information to businesses, communities and third sector partners. We offer a professional focused service to everyone we work with, whether we are providing information, processing a permit, working with communities or taking enforcement action.
